GLOBAL INSTITUTE OF MATHEMATICS
|
a premier online school of mathematics for American and international students that prepares for university success
|

About Us
Mathematics education has undergone great reform in the past ten years. As a
result, an integrated curriculum has evolved and has been widely adopted. A
primary downside of this evolution is that many students have lost a basic ability
"to do" math. There is a great fear that students are lacking in the skills
necessary to be successful at the university level. American universities,
however, still require students to be mathematically able. Thus, many students
are required to take remedial classes at university. Global Institute of
Mathematics was designed to address this disconnect by offering courses
taught in the traditional method preferred by universities. Our mission is to
prepare students, American and international, to succeed in the rigors of the
American university system.
How We're Different
Global Institute of Mathematics is a unique online school of mathematics. We
differ from our competitors in several distinct ways.
There are no requirements on who may offer online mathematics classes.
Anybody thinking themselves able may teach math online. Our instructor is
highly qualified with degrees in teaching mathematics and physics. He has
over 18 years of experience teaching high school mathematics in three
countries. He has taught in the American Advanced Placement System, the
British GCSE curriculum, the International Baccalaureate Program and the
Polish Educational System.
Unlike the pre-recorded lessons our competition offers, our classes are in real
time where the student actually sees the instructor teaching the lesson. This
allows students to ask questions of the instructor during the lesson, thereby
influencing the pace and content of that lesson. The students also have
unlimited access to the instructor via email for the duration of the course, which
allows them to influence how subsequent lessons are developed. This creates
the feeling of a regular classroom environment where both teacher and student
share in the learning process. This is unlike other online classes where a
student watches videotaped lessons with no real interaction with the instructor.
